Limited moderator powers are conceivably possible. Perhaps it's an honorary position bestowed upon me.

If only mods can create threads, then what must that mean after I've successfully posted a thread?

Notice Mithan's use of the word "most", indicating some still deserve the ability to post threads. I think I would definitely be deserving, and am probably one of the exceptions to the new rule.

as a ghost writer myself, I often try to remind them that all their books are my own work. I'll drop by their house at 2 or 3 am and go under their house and make all sorts of noises and whisper about their books and the excellent writing.
